Meet Our Team

My name is Patricia Vann and I am a licensed professional counselor with Rise Up Mental Health care. As a therapist, I have served those who have experienced trauma and other difficult situations in their lives. I have been privileged to work addiction recovery and carry the wounds of trauma. This work is a passion, as I believe that our stories are important in shaping how we see ourselves. It is through our stories then that we also heal ourselves. I earned my BA in liberal studies from Cal State Stanislaus and a Masters in mental health counseling from Argosy University Seattle. My PhD in psychology came later from Cappella University. I have been trained and certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) which was developed to help those who have had trauma recover without having to talk at length about the trauma. This treatment is also about finding and changing the negative core values that one might carry due to the trauma they have experienced. I spent 10 years working as an adjunct professor at Ohio Valley University teaching in the psychology department. I continue to work in academia as an online professor for Liberty University teaching in their graduate program in psychology. It is a pleasure to continue to work in this field helping people from all walks of life find value in themselves as they work through their past. It is a honor to see an individual begin to connect to their potential and their hope brings them peace and confidence. I am blessed to be part of this work.
